Blush Rosé by Zagreus Winery shows a new face of the local grape variety Mavrud. A terroir wine made with minimum intervention in order to preserve and strengthen the authentic characteristics of the grape. The grapes come from own vineyards of Zagreus Winery, are organically grown, dry-farmed* and hand-picked at optimal ripeness and quality.
How we choose our new wines ...
We regularly visit both our and new winemakers, always on the lookout for fresh additions to our collection. However, we never compromise. Quality, authenticity, and sustainability are our core principles. Each wine we offer must have something unique, a distinct character that sets it apart from the the rest of the market.
Low intervention wines are wines that are crafted with minimal interference or manipulation during the winemaking process. The concept of low-intervention winemaking emphasizes on and allows the natural characteristics of the grapes and the terroir to shine through in the finished wine, rather than relying heavily on additives, technological interventions, or aggressive processing techniques.

Did you know that Bulgaria is one of the oldest wine producing countries in the world?
Viticulture in Bulgaria has a long history, dating back to the time of the Thracians, about 3,000 years ago. Archaeological evidence indicates that people started making wine in Bulgarian lands as early as 1000 BC. These people were the ancient Thracians, who inhabited the lands of modern-day Bulgaria.
And many wines are still made in the original way - without additives, flavor enhancers, etc. Pure, natural wines that retain and allow you to taste the authentic characteristics of the grape.

Amarone from Bulgaria!
Drying the grapes after the harvest. A method, common in north-eastern Italy for making Amarone. Now also in Bulgaria. The result is a very concentrated wine. The ripe and intense flavours are compensated by delicious acidity. The high alcohol and ripe tannins ensure a full flavour with a long finish. Elegant wood aging would give the wine even more character and storage potential.
This method, together with healthy grapes and the craftsmanship of the winemaker, would ensure an unparalleled wine. See below our recommendations with value for money far above average on the market ...
