ABOUT PAMPOROVO SKI RESORT

Pamporovo ski resort is established ski destination with history of over 85 years. It is located in the central part of the Rhodope mountains at 1650 MASL, at the foot of the Snezhanka peak. The climate in the region is sub-Mediterranean, defined by mild climate, mild winter and over 240 sunny days during the year. The average annual temperature in the resort is 5.5 °C.

Almost all ski slopes start from Snow White Peak, Bulgarian: Snezhanka peak (1926m.), and their altitude varies from 1926m. to 1400m. The ski season starts at the beginning of December and lasts until the end of April. During the winter the snow cover reaches over 2m.

Among the biggest advantages of Pamporovo resort is the lack of danger of hurricane winds and avalanches. The increased negative ionization in the air in the region of Pamporovo makes the resort suitable for rehabilitation of respiratory diseases, diseases of the nervous system and metabolism.

Ski Slopes

The ski pistes in Pamporovo have various degree of difficulty, ranging from green - suitable for beginner skiers, to black ones - a real challenge for professionals. Their overall length is 37 km. The resort is especially suitable for cross country skiing. The overall length of the cross-country routes is 25 km., crossing charming areas from Pamporovo to Mougla village, and the other way round.
Most numerous are the pistes for beginner and intermediate skiers. About 90% of the pistes have been equipped with artificial snow system, which ensures constant snow cover throughout the whole winter season, regardless of the relatively low altitude. The number of the functioning snow cannons within the ski zone amounts to 80. This number is to be gradually increased every year.
Since the beginning of season 2009/2010 complex Pamporovo offers - night skiing of 17:30 to 22:00.

All-season Pamporovo

Pamporovo is not just a winter destination, but a year-round resort that offers a variety of activities.

During spring, the snow starts to melt, and the ski resort closes, but the nature comes to life. In the autumn, the forests surrounding Pamporovo turn a beautiful golden colour, making it a great time to visit for hiking and photography enthusiasts.

During the summer months, visitors can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, and various other outdoor activities. The Rhodope Mountains are home to many hiking trails, and visitors can take advantage of the numerous guided tours available.

Pamporovo also has an excellent golf course, which is open from May to October. The course has 18 holes and is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The resort also has a number of outdoor and indoor swimming pools, which are open during the summer months. Visitors can relax in the sun, take a dip in the pool, and enjoy refreshments from the poolside bar.

In addition to the above, Pamporovo also has a number of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, making it a lively destination all year round.

Gastronomy and local cuisine

The Rhodope specialties are well known for being incredibly delicious and the only way to immerse yourself in their true essence is to try them in their motherland – the Rhodopes.
