Blush Rosé expresses the desire of the wine makers to return to the original, primary, untamed and pure character of the wine, which the terroir and the nature gift us.
Blush Rosé by Zagreus Winery shows a new face of the local grape variety Mavrud. A terroir wine made with minimum intervention to preserve and strengthen the authentic characteristics of the grape. The grapes come from own vineyards of Zagreus Winery, are organically grown, dry-farmed* and hand-picked at optimal ripeness and quality.
* Dryland farming isn’t quite what it sounds like: It doesn’t mean that vineyards never get any water, but it typically means that the vines aren’t irrigated, relying only on natural rainfall. Not only is dry farming environmentally responsible, many vintners believe it yields more intensely-flavoured grapes. Dry-farmed vines would typically develop much deeper root systems compared to irrigated vines and are more resistant to extremes in weather. Deeper root system would ensure healthy gapes, extracts the soil nutrients better and lets the grapes fully represent the terroir.
