Three generations and three grapes in one wine!

Three generations with one aim - to leave something behind!

Message from Dimitar Kostadinov, owner of Zagreus Winery

"It all began in the winter of 2001, in the living room of our home in Parvomay. My grandfather, father and I were sitting around and talking about the future. That was the moment we decided to create Zagreus.

My grandfather had to be in place to manage it. My father had to find the financing and I had to keep my promise to return home after completing my studies abroad and continue what we had started.

Looking back, more than 20 years later, I can say - we did it! Three generations with one aim - to leave something behind! Three generations and three grapes in one wine!

This wine is dedicated to our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Dimitar, who passed his dreams on to us."

Zagreus Winery was built in 2004 and is located in the hart of Thracian Valley (Thracian Lowlands) in Southern Bulgaria. It is a modern complex with a fully integrated cycle of production, beginning from the grapes and ending with the bottle of wine. The winery is equipped with the most contemporary production facilities with the ability to control and optimise all processes of fermentation, vinification, stabilisation, bottling and ageing of the wine.

Today the winery owns more than 130ha of vineyards and uses only grapes from own vineyards. Since 2010 all the vineyards of Zagreus have been cultivated in accordance with all EU directives and requirements for organic production. In 2013, after a mandatory three-year controlled period, the winery was certified for BIO/Organic production.
