PET-NAT Mavrud Rosé
Born to be wild. Small bubbles, big pleasures ...
PET-NAT Mavrud Rosé by Zagreus Winery shows a new face of the local grape variety Mavrud. A natural terroir wine, natural sparkling, preserving and strengthening the authentic characteristics of the grape. The grapes come from the own vineyards of Zagreus Winery, are organically grown, dry-farmed* and hand-picked at optimal ripeness and quality.
* Dry-land farming isn’t quite what it sounds like: It doesn’t mean that vineyards never get any water, but it typically means that the vines aren’t irrigated and rely only on natural rainfalls. Not only is dry farming environmentally responsible, but many vintners believe it yields more intensely-flavoured grapes. Dry-farmed vines would typically develop much deeper root systems compared to irrigated vines and are more resistant to extremes in weather. Deeper root system ensures healthy gapes, extracts the soil nutrients better and lets the grapes fully represent the terroir.
Wine Making ...
Crafted using the ancestral method, the oldest way of making sparkling wine, solely relying on the quality of the grapes. The grapes are handpicked in early September, followed by gentle pressing. The juice undergoes spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Bottled before the the fermentation has completed, allowing the process to continue in the bottle and form its fine natural bubbles. Each bottle is disgorged before release to remove the coarse sediment and ensure clarity.
